SECTION A – VEGETABLES & FRUIT

Vegetables and fruit classes

  • 3 Potatoes – any variety
  • 3 Carrots – tops trimmed
  • 3 Onions – dressed
  • 5 Runner Beans
  • 3 Tomatoes (round)
  • 6 Cherry Tomatoes
  • 3 Beetroot – tops trimmed to 3"
  • 3 Courgettes
  • Collection of 5 Different Vegetables (basket or tray)
  • Heaviest Marrow or Pumpkin
  • 3 Cooking Apples
  • 3 Dessert Apples
  • 3 Pears
  • Bowl of Mixed Fruit (grown by exhibitor)

SECTION B – FLOWERS & PLANTS

Flowers and plant classes

  • Vase of Mixed Garden Flowers
  • Vase of 3 Dahlias
  • Vase of 3 Roses
  • Single Bloom – any variety
  • Vase of 5 Stems of Sweet Peas (if available)
  • Pot Plant – Flowering
  • Pot Plant – Foliage
  • Vase of Autumn Foliage or Berries
  • Flower Arrangement – 'Autumn Glory' (max. 45cm width)
  • Miniature Flower Arrangement – 'A Teacup of Flowers' (max. 15cm width)

SECTION C – HOME PRODUCE

Home baking, preserves and drinks

  • Victoria Sponge – jam-filled, no cream
  • Fruit Cake (traditional recipe)
  • Lemon Drizzle Cake
  • 5 Homemade Biscuits – one variety
  • 5 Pieces of Flapjack or Traybake
  • Loaf of Bread (any method)
  • Savoury Quiche or Flan
  • Jar of Jam (named variety)
  • Jar of Marmalade
  • Jar of Chutney or Pickle
  • Jar of Local Honey
  • Bottle of Homemade Cordial, Cider, or Fruit Liqueur (non-commercial)

SECTION D – FORAGED & HEDGEROW TREASURES

Foraged goods and hedgerow produce

  • Bowl of Foraged Fruit or Nuts (e.g. sloes, damsons, blackberries, hazelnuts)
  • Jar of Jam or Jelly made from Foraged Ingredients
  • Bottle of Hedgerow Liqueur or Cordial (e.g. sloe gin, elderflower, blackberry brandy)
  • 'A Taste of the Hedgerow' – small display of mixed foraged produce and preserves

SECTION E – HANDICRAFTS & ART

Crafts, artwork and photography

  • A Piece of Knitting or Crochet
  • A Handmade Textile Item (sewn, embroidered, or quilted)
  • A Piece of Woodwork or Metalwork
  • A Handmade Card or Papercraft
  • A Painting or Drawing – any medium
  • A Photograph – 'The Beauty of Callow End'
  • A Photograph – 'Life in the Garden'

SECTION F – CHILDREN'S CLASSES

Young exhibitors' classes

  • Miniature Garden in a Tray (max. 30cm x 40cm)
  • 4 Decorated Cupcakes
  • Animal Made from Vegetables or Fruit
  • Painted Pebble or Stone
  • Drawing or Painting of 'My Garden'
  • 5 Homemade Biscuits (any type)
  • Lego Model (your own design, max. 25cm wide)

SPECIAL CLASSES

Overall and special awards

  • 'Best in Show' – selected from section winners
  • 'Callow End Cup' – for most points overall
  • 'Children's Champion' – highest total in children's classes
  • 'Best Foraged Exhibit' – chosen from Section D entries

Competition Rules & Guidelines

Please read these important guidelines before entering

  • 1All entries must be grown/made by the exhibitor
  • 2Entry fees: £2 per entry (Children's classes are FREE!)
  • 3Maximum 2 entries per person per class
  • 4Entry deadline: 31 August 2026
  • 5Entries to be staged between 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM on show day
  • 6Judging takes place from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
  • 7Prizes: Rosettes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each class; Best in Show trophy and category awards
  • 8All produce should be clean and properly presented
  • 9Children's entries must be submitted by a parent/adult with the child's name provided
  • 10By entering you agree to our Privacy Policy and consent to essential cookies required for the website to function
  • 11The organisers reserve the right to change, cancel or merge individual classes
  • 12In the event that the organisers need to cancel the show for any reason, liability will be limited to the value of entry fees paid, which will be refunded in full
